Platelet-rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma is one of the most innovative and effective facial rejuvenation treatments in dermatological medicine; the substance is obtained by low-speed centrifugation of the patient's blood, that is, by decanting the components of the blood to obtain its plasma. By supplying platelet rich plasma to localized areas of the skin, scars, wounds or stretch marks can be treated, as well as improving the overall quality of the skin. It is mostly applied in patients between 40 and 50 years old.
A treatment session with platelet-rich plasma begins with the extraction of a small blood sample, between 5 to 10 cubic centimeters (the blood must always belong to the patient). Then, the sample is centrifuged for a few minutes, as required by the procedure, until it separates into two parts: one reddish (red blood cells) and another yellowish made up of platelets, the latter is removed to be applied to the areas of the skin that require treatment. Plasma can be applied to the scalp, neck, hands, face, among other areas of the body.
In general, four initial sessions are recommended, although already significant improvements in the skin can be noticed from the first one. The treatment is quick and practically painless, it does not require surgical interventions or pre and post operative.
